After I published my novel (2010) lots of people in the artworld started thinking I wasn’t an artist but a writer. For me art is reinventing myself everytime I start a new painting, a new novel, a new sculpture. I felt I wanted to erase my past, and I came up with the eraser paintings. It’s my stupid contribution to abstraction: monochromes with an eraser in the center of the canvas. As if I had canceled a previous figurative painting.
